Chloe Sevigny, Salma Hayek & Jay Duplass Join ‘Beatriz At Dinner’

EXCLUSIVE: Chloe Sevigny, Salma Hayek and Jay Duplass have joined indie pic Beatriz At Dinner, written by Mike White and to be directed by Miguel Arteta. The story follows a holistic medicine practitioner who finds herself a fish out of water when her car breaks down at a wealthy client’s house and she joins a celebratory dinner party. Hayek plays the title character. Also in the cast are John Lithgow, Nina Arianda and Connie Britton.

Christine Vachon’s Killer Films produces alongside Bron Studios. This is the type of upmarket yet accessible fare that Vachon has excelled at in the past, including last year’s critically acclaimed Carol with Cate Blanchett and Rooney Mara. Number 9 Films’ Elizabeth Karlsen and Stephen Wooley were the lead producers on that terrific picture and shepherded the project through its development phase onto the screen. Vachon has reunited with that film’s director Todd Haynes on Wonderstruck, with Julianne Moore, which Amazon is financing. The script for Wonderstruck is said to have wowed buyers.

The award-winning Sevigny, who Deadline revealed was joining Andrew Haigh’s Lean on Pete, can currently be seen in Whit Stillman’s well-reviewed Love & Friendship opposite Kate Beckinsale. She also stars in Netflix original series Bloodline. Sevigny recently made her directorial debut on the short film Kitty, about a little girl who dreams of being a kitten, which premiered to good notices at Cannes this year.

Sevigny also has a trio of projects in the pipelines: Universal’s The Snowman, opposite Michael Fassbender; Oren Moverman’s The Dinner, which stars Richard Gere and Charlie Plummer; as well as Alex Ross Perry’s Golden Exits. She is repped by Brillstein Entertainment Partners and WME.
