Great news! FX Networks has announced it has renewed American Horror Story for a third season.

According to TV Line, the new 13-episode season, which will once again be set in a new location and era, will begin production next summer with an eye on a fall 2013 premiere. Naturally, no details on the upcoming season have been released so far, but the network has confirmed the series’ star Jessica Lange will be returning.

With no further casting details announced, it is of course uncertain at this point whether or not Chloë Sevigny, who’s been guest-starring on the show as Shelley this season, will be seen in the next season as well, but she has expressed both interest and excitement at the prospect of returning. From her recent interview with Collider.com:

“Oh, my god, I hope [I get to come back for Season 3]! Ryan teased that, and I was like, ‘Don’t tease me, unless you’re going to come through on your promise!’ I want to come back and work with this cast again, or at least some of them. It’s a great gig. What actress wouldn’t want to do it? It’s so much fun! You get to be in this heightened environment. It’s a dream.”

But whether or not we’ll see her on the show again, congrats to Team AHS on the (well-deserved) new season order!

Just in the right time for Hit & Miss‘ Australian run (Mondays on ABC2, btw ;) ), we’ve stumbled on this video interview with Chloë Sevigny by Holy Moly! from the Manchester set of the series late last year, in which Chloë talks about filming in the area and her character Mia.

“I’m less of a snob now”
by Greg Hassall

Chloe Sevigny explains her new willingness to take on comedy.

You play a transgender hit person in Hit & Miss. On paper that sounds pretty weird. Did it feel like a stretch to you?
I was afraid I wouldn’t be convincing and the [transgender] community might be upset about it because it’s a sensitive thing. That was the scariest part for me. Not the outcome or the controversy or what people are going to write about it, because I knew the tone they were going to set. It’s so based in reality and the truth of the emotions and relationships that it’s not quite as nuts as the synopsis sounds.

How important is it that we see your character, Mia, naked so early in the show?
I think it’s good to just get it out of the way. And the way they shot it, it’s not gratuitous — it’s just kind of there, it’s very natural. It’s just me getting dressed or taking a shower.

Did you find it strange wearing a prosthetic penis?
Yes, it was very uncomfortable and I think I had a similar relationship to it as Mia would have with hers. She felt like a freak.

What attracted you to the role?
First and foremost was the script. I wanted to work in England, I wanted to work with this director. I didn’t have anything else and I wanted to do something very different from the character I played on Big Love for so many years just to kind of shake that part. I loved doing long-form television and the fact it was a six-hour mini-series, I knew how much you get to explore with the character over time.

Chloe Sevigny Talks AMERICAN HORROR STORY: ASYLUM, What Attracted Her to the Role, Working with Jessica Lange and Possibly Returning for Season 3
by Christina Radish

Set in 1964, the FX drama series American Horror Story: Asylum takes viewers into Briarcliff, a haven for the criminally insane, ruled with an iron fist by Sister Jude (Jessica Lange), a nun with a troubled past. Inside this locked down facility, danger lurks around every corner, whether it’s a doctor who loves to torture, flesh eating creatures in the forest, alien experimentation or the serial killer Bloody Face, and no one is safe.

During this recent exclusive phone interview with Collider, actress Chloe Sevigny, who plays the resident nymphomaniac, talked about how exciting it is to be a part of event television, what a big fan she was of Season 1, what attracted her to the role, how she’s more frightened by realistic violence than straight out gore, how amazing it was to work with Jessica Lange, just how much crazier things will get this season, and how she’d love to return for Season 3. She also talked about her work on the TV series Hit & Miss, playing such unexpected roles, dabbling in comedy, and her desire to do a sweeping romantic period drama. Check out what she had to say after the jump.

Collider: Before the season premiered, it was already a trending topic on Twitter, proving that it’s more like event television than just a TV show now. Is it exciting to be a part of something like this, where people are so eager to talk about it?
CHLOE SEVIGNY: Yeah! When I heard the numbers, I was like, “Wow!” I’m flattered to be a part of it and excited, of course. I was on Big Love for five years and we had our fans, but it didn’t feel like it was a crazy event thing. There wasn’t a frenzy surrounding it. People weren’t having viewing parties, like I’m hearing they are for American Horror Story. So, yeah, it’s super exciting! I just hope people enjoy it and are frightened.

Big news! According to The Hollywood Reporter, Chloë Sevigny has nabbed a lead role in the upcoming A&E crime/drama pilot Those Who Kill.

Based on the Danish series Den Som Dræber, the pilot from writer Glen Morgan (The X-Files) revolves around a police detective and a forensic profiler who possess a deep understanding of the serial killers they hunt. Sevigny will play Catherine, who’s described as a detective driven by an old anger or sadness who has become a workaholic and doesn’t have much of a social life outside of work. She cares deeply about the victims and has a strong sense of justice.

From Fox 21, Morgan developed the adaptation of Elsebeth Egholm and Stefan Jaworski’s series with Imagine Television. He will executive produce alongside Jonas Allen, Peter Bose and Imagine’s Brian Grazer and Francie Calfo. Joe Carnahan will direct the pilot.

Those Who Kill comes as A&E continues to make a big push into original scripted programming with efforts including the Psycho prequel Bates Motel from Carlton Cuse and starring Vera Farmiga. The network recently renewed freshman drama Longmire and ordered Bates straight to series, bypassing the typical pilot process.

The pilot will shoot this fall in Pittsburgh.

Find the series’ IMDB-page here.

What do you think? Personally, I’m super-excited for this. This project will mark a whole new turn for Chloë character-wise, and as a big fan of A&E’s Longmire I’m absolutely confident that if the network picks it up it’s going to be a quality show. Fingers crossed!!

Great interview with Chloë Sevigny from The Baltimore Sun‘s B the Site in which Chloë talks about portraying Shelley on American Horror Story. Full article under the cut.

American Horror Story Q&A with star Chloe Sevigny

The acclaimed actress talks about her nymphomaniac character — and chatting about men with Jessica Lange.

Last fall, FX’s American Horror Story burst onto the scene as one of television’s best drama miniseries and was nominated for 17 Emmy Awards. This season, co-creators Ryan Murphy and Brad Falchuk flipped the script by changing characters, plotlines and the show’s setting from the Murder House to the dank and chilling Briarcliff Manor mental asylum.

Over the next few weeks b will post Q&As with cast members of American Horror Story. First up: Chloe Sevigny (Big Love, Boys Don’t Cry), who plays the impulsive Shelley the nymphomaniac.

Sevigny spoke to b about her experiences on the American Horror Story set, her time in the acting business and about the chance we’ll see her in season three.

You have experience on the small screen with Big Love and Hit & Miss and also in movies. Do you have a preference between movies and TV, or is it all about finding a role that intrigues you?
I can’t really say I have a preference. There is more of a chance on TV. Sometimes TV can make you feel freer because you don’t have to get everything just right.

What about the role of Shelley interested you?
I actually didn’t get to try out. I was asked about taking the part and it was one of those things where you just have to sign on line face.

Did you follow any of Season 1?
I watched it all in two or three days. After the first couple episodes I was so spooked! You don’t see many horror shows on TV.

You shaved your head sometime during your junior or senior year of high school. There’s a scene in the American Horror Story Season 2 opener where Jessica Lange started shaving your head before being interrupted by Sister Mary Eunice and Lana Winters. Was that a déjà vu moment for you?
I actually had that hair cut about 10 years ago. For the show, it was either that or have to wear a prosthetic hair piece. [laughs] But now that I’m over 30 years old, it’s not as cute as it used to be.

If you can’t wait for more on the upcoming season of FX’s American Horror Story, check out the series’ feature in the new Entertainment Weekly. We’ve updated the gallery with six scans of the article, thanks to jessica-lange on Tumblr. Here’s is its only proper mention of Chloë, who will be portraying Shelley the Nymphomaniac on the show this season:

Twisted doesn’t even begin to describe the corkscrew of a plot that encompasses season 2 of AHS, set to premiere Oct. 17 at 10 p.m. “We are going Ryan Murphy-style all the way to the crazy house,” says [Sarah] Paulson, referencing the show’s co-creator. Adds Chloë Sevigny (Big Love), who plays sex-obsessed inmate Shelley, “When I read [the scripts] I was like, ‘This is nuts.’ Then when we did the table read, and we read it aloud, there was something more grounded about it. But it’s provocative, and that makes it fun to watch.”

Before you check out the full article, however, please be mindful that the article contains a lot of new information, and even spoilers, about the new season, so if you’d like to remain absolutely spoiler-free we recommend you skip it altogether.

Much as we suspected, Chloë Sevigny’s recent visit to Terry Richardson’s studio has translated into a magazine feature, as Chloë is featured on the cover of the August issue of Out, a gay and lesbian fashion, entertainment, and lifestyle magazine. Check out the cover and a couple of small preview pics of the inside images in our gallery, and the full article on Out.com.

Some excerpts from the article:

“I was worried people would be angry that they didn’t cast a real person who was transitioning [for the part of Mia in Hit & Miss],” she says. “I asked why they didn’t, and the producers said they didn’t find the right person. It’s a big responsibility toward that community, and I wanted to do them right.” The show’s writer, Sean Conway, was more categorical. “I don’t think anyone else could have played the part,” he says. “She’s hypnotizing and perfectly balances the tender with the brutal. I could watch her forever.”

[...] “Being around the men on set, being naked, and having that on, I just felt insecure and uncomfortable. Plus the process to put it on was very involved. I had to shave myself, it’s glued on, painted, like any prosthetic. It’s not fun to have someone right up in your private parts,” she deadpans before letting out her hooting laugh, a signature Chloë-ism. “I think the root of why I was so upset with having it on was that I wasn’t fully trusting of the producers and directors,” she admits. “Now I can rest assured, because I’ve seen it, and it’s not gratuitous. It shouldn’t be a show about a fucking penis.’”

[...] “People expect me to say I regret Brown Bunny, but I won’t.”

[...] “Sevigny denies that she’s the clotheshorse she’s made out to be, but does, in fact, know her place in the fashion food chain. For the British premiere of Hit & Miss she requested about 20 dresses for consideration, but only received two. “Aren’t I one of the top searches on Style.com, for crying out loud?” she says with mock disgust. “How hard is it to get a fucking dress from Valentino?” When it’s noted that that quote will definitely make it to print, she clasps her hands together and lets out a raspy laugh.”
