More magazine features! According to Perri Lewis, commissioning editor at Psychologies magazine, Chloë Sevigny will be on the cover of (presumably) the June issue of the UK health and entertainment magazine. Keep your eyes peeled for it on newsstands!
Update Apr 29: Chloë will indeed be appearing in the June issue of Psychologies. Check out a preview of the cover to your right — you’ll notice the cover picture is the same as appeared in California Style in 2009.
Chloë is also currently featured on the cover of the April 24th Independent Magazine, a weekly supplement of the Independent newspaper. Check out a small preview of the cover to your right, two outtakes from the photoshoot in our gallery and the full interview at www.independent.co.uk.
Select excerpts from the interview about Hit & Miss, her Golden Globe win, The Brown Bunny and the role she was once supposedly offered in Legally Blonde:

“Sex scenes are difficult, simulated or not,” is how Sevigny puts it. “It sucks either way.” “As it were,” I say. “As it were,” she echoes flatly, bored by the double entendre. There were reports of a backlash after Brown Bunny, something Sevigny denies. “There were all these rumours, like getting fired from my agency, which is not true,” she says. “And they said things about me not being marketable, but was I marketable beforehand? No. I mean I’ve always been this indie, outside-the-box girl. Afterwards I got cast in a Woody Allen film, and Zodiac and then a big show on HBO. So people can say what they like.”
[...] “That was surprising,” she says. “I got really giddy and emotional when I got up on stage. I couldn’t believe I was getting this pat on the back, even though it was from this small collection of foreign journalists.”
[...] Her only immediate plans are for a long holiday in Jamaica. Sky are hoping for a second series of Hit+Miss should it prove a hit rather than a miss. Would she be tempted back? “I think I’d like to see how it comes out, and what they would have in mind,” she says.
[...] What about the story that she turned down half a million for Legally Blonde, and the role eventually taken by Selma Blair? “Why does everyone keep saying this?” asks Sevigny. “I was never offered Legally Blonde — that’s an internet lie… one of many hundreds. It just enrages me. Drop the Legally Blonde thing.”
Interestingly, Chloë explicitly denies in the interview having ever been offered a role in the 2001 blockbuster Legally Blonde, although she spoke of the reasons she turned down the part in Tokion magazine in 2009. But what is Chloë if not a contradictory person? :)

Check out these two hi-res digital scans of Chloë Sevigny and Hit & Miss featured in the Summer 2012 issue of Attitude magazine. The article features some terrific quotations from Chloë about filming Hit & Miss (and Manchester), Boys Don’t Cry and the Drew Droege “Chloe Sevigny” spoof video series among others and comes with two brand new photos from Chloë’s Hit & Miss promoshoot as Mia.
Select excerpts from the article:
In February, Chloë told US magazine Interview that Manchester ‘one of the grimmest places I’d ever been in my entire life’, a quote that was picked up by The Sun and which unfavourably painted her as a prissy Yank. So did she really hate it? ‘Well, I did feel very stuck there,’ she admits, ‘but it’s not like I have anything against Manchester! It was just so small, and it’s hard for another city to compare to New York.’ And while she cheerfully admits that Manchester was ‘always raining’, she took a leaf out of Stuart and Vince from Queer as Folk‘s book in her penchant for trips to Canal Street ‘to watch and see trans women walk by’.
[...] Chloë’s most acclaimed role is still in Boys Don’t Cry, the searing 1999 biopic of F-to-M trans man Brandon Teena (the role won Hilary Swank an Oscar). Chloë played Brandon’s loving, headstrong girlfriend who stands by her man through his tragic persecution in the trailer parks of America’s conservative Midwest. ‘That story is still precious to me,’ she says of the role that also earned her an Oscar nomination, but adds, ‘At the end of the day I think about the real Brandon Teena who was murdered by his friend, so it’s very bittersweet.’ People keep trying to compare Hit and Miss to Boys Don’t Cry when they talk to her, but she says, ‘I feel that kind of trivialises it — Hilary was a girl playing a boy.’
[...] ‘I met [Drew Droege] at a party once and he was frightened to death! But I was very kind to him.’ It’s clear that Chloë is a little uneasy about being spoofed. Who wouldn’t be? But then she quips with trademark self-deprecation, ‘I’m happy to provide entertainment!’

Attention, UK! Chloë Sevigny will be attending the London premiere of Sky Atlantic’s Hit & Miss miniseries at The May Fair Hotel on May 15. What’s more, UK Sky customers can win two tickets to the premiere via Sky.com.
Also attending are series creator Paul Abbott, writer Sean Conway and producer Nicola Shindler, as well as “all main cast members” (according to Sky Atlantic on Twitter), who will all be staying with Chloë after the screening to answer questions about the making of the series.
Five winners will be selected at random by an independent person, from all correct and eligible entries received, on or around 10 May 2012. The winners will be notified by telephone and email by 11 May 2012 and will have 48 hours to respond from initial contact in order to claim their prize. This promotion is open to all existing Sky TV customers who are UK residents, aged 18 years or over.
Each winner will receive the following prize: Two tickets to a preview screening of the first episode of Hit & Miss at The May Fair Hotel, Stratton Street, London W1J 8LT followed by a Q&A session with members of the cast.
The screening will start at 6.30pm followed by the Q&A, which should be over by approximately 8pm. Drinks will be available after the Q&A. Due to the content of the screening, only persons 18 years old or over will be admitted entry. Chloë Sevigny is featured in the January 2012 issue of W magazine!
Chloë appears in the magazine in a brand-new, monochrome- and animal-themed photoshoot by photographer Anthony Maule as well as art director Rob Pruitt, one of Chloë’s good friends. Check out a couple of medium-res outtakes from the shoot in our gallery and the interview with Chloë and Rob on WMagazine.com.
Our favorite excerpts from the interview:
PRUITT: Then fast-forward a couple of years after Chloë finished filming Kids [the 1995 cult film directed by Larry Clark, starring Sevigny], and I ended up cutting her hair in a downtown loft.
SEVIGNY: I was really sad about the haircut—I thought it was pretty bad. But because of Rob’s voice and his nature, I fully trusted him. That was the first time I saw his panda paintings—in that apartment.
There were moments [in the photoshoot] that reminded me so much of the Cecil Beaton Ascot scene in My Fair Lady. It was a contemporary version of that.
SEVIGNY: I’ve never seen My Fair Lady. It’s Audrey Hepburn, right? I can’t stand Audrey Hepburn. It’s this character she created in Breakfast at Tiffany’s—a comic kind of New York City character. I don’t know, for me it’s just vapid. It irritates me.
One of the things that artists get to do very freely, which actors don’t, is speak their mind, either through their work or in interviews. Chloë, is that something you envy?
SEVIGNY: I do. In Hollywood, if you are outspoken, you risk your career. I have been very outspoken in the past and gotten in trouble for it. I’ve always felt like an outsider anyway, but definitely in Hollywood I’ve never felt like part of the “in” crowd. In fact, I just finished filming a new TV series in Manchester, England, where I play a pre-op male-to-female transsexual who grew up around a lot of violence. She escapes from her family and brutally kills this guy and becomes a hit woman. In the beginning, she’s kind of devoid of feelings, and she’s cut herself off, but she adopts this family of misfit kids and opens up through her relationship with them. It’s pretty amazing and out there. I mean, out there: I’m wearing a prosthetic penis—that’s something you don’t usually see on television.
Thanks to Melancholybaby @ The Fashion Spot for the find!
Update Dec 24: Check out a video from the photoshoot on WMagazine.com.
