Great news! FX Networks has announced it has renewed American Horror Story for a third season.
According to TV Line, the new 13-episode season, which will once again be set in a new location and era, will begin production next summer with an eye on a fall 2013 premiere. Naturally, no details on the upcoming season have been released so far, but the network has confirmed the series’ star Jessica Lange will be returning.
With no further casting details announced, it is of course uncertain at this point whether or not Chloë Sevigny, who’s been guest-starring on the show as Shelley this season, will be seen in the next season as well, but she has expressed both interest and excitement at the prospect of returning. From her recent interview with Collider.com:
“Oh, my god, I hope [I get to come back for Season 3]! Ryan teased that, and I was like, ‘Don’t tease me, unless you’re going to come through on your promise!’ I want to come back and work with this cast again, or at least some of them. It’s a great gig. What actress wouldn’t want to do it? It’s so much fun! You get to be in this heightened environment. It’s a dream.”
But whether or not we’ll see her on the show again, congrats to Team AHS on the (well-deserved) new season order!

More magazine features! According to Perri Lewis, commissioning editor at Psychologies magazine, Chloë Sevigny will be on the cover of (presumably) the June issue of the UK health and entertainment magazine. Keep your eyes peeled for it on newsstands!
Update Apr 29: Chloë will indeed be appearing in the June issue of Psychologies. Check out a preview of the cover to your right — you’ll notice the cover picture is the same as appeared in California Style in 2009.
Chloë is also currently featured on the cover of the April 28th Independent Magazine, a weekly supplement of the Independent newspaper. Check out a small preview of the cover to your right, two outtakes from the photoshoot in our gallery and the full interview at www.independent.co.uk.
Select excerpts from the interview about Hit & Miss, her Golden Globe win, The Brown Bunny and the role she was once supposedly offered in Legally Blonde:

“Sex scenes are difficult, simulated or not,” is how Sevigny puts it. “It sucks either way.” “As it were,” I say. “As it were,” she echoes flatly, bored by the double entendre. There were reports of a backlash after Brown Bunny, something Sevigny denies. “There were all these rumours, like getting fired from my agency, which is not true,” she says. “And they said things about me not being marketable, but was I marketable beforehand? No. I mean I’ve always been this indie, outside-the-box girl. Afterwards I got cast in a Woody Allen film, and Zodiac and then a big show on HBO. So people can say what they like.”
[...] “That was surprising,” she says. “I got really giddy and emotional when I got up on stage. I couldn’t believe I was getting this pat on the back, even though it was from this small collection of foreign journalists.”
[...] Her only immediate plans are for a long holiday in Jamaica. Sky are hoping for a second series of Hit+Miss should it prove a hit rather than a miss. Would she be tempted back? “I think I’d like to see how it comes out, and what they would have in mind,” she says.
[...] What about the story that she turned down half a million for Legally Blonde, and the role eventually taken by Selma Blair? “Why does everyone keep saying this?” asks Sevigny. “I was never offered Legally Blonde — that’s an internet lie… one of many hundreds. It just enrages me. Drop the Legally Blonde thing.”
Interestingly, Chloë explicitly denies in the interview having ever been offered a role in the 2001 blockbuster Legally Blonde, although she spoke of the reasons she turned down the part in Tokion magazine in 2009. But what is Chloë if not a contradictory person? :)

Finally, another source next to the Internet Movie Database has mentioned Chloë Sevigny’s rumored involvement in Hilary Brougher’s Innocence. Bloody Disgusting has exclusively learned new details about the casting for the film, and according to their sources Chloë will be appearing in the film. From Bloody Disgusting:
There’s a lot of casting ins and outs regarding Bankside Films and Killer Films’ Innocence, their vampire tale announced last February. Back in 2011, both Abigail Breslin and Julianne Moore were cast. As of today, we have a wide array of different information we’re digging into.
First, it looks like Moore is out, but Breslin, the Zombieland star recently cast in The Hive, is still locked in the lead role. Bloody Disgusting is also exclusively told that Kelly Reilly (Sherlock Holmes) and Chloe Sevigny (Zodiac, American Psycho) have joined the cast, with Sophie Curtis (The English Teacher) also in talks.
BD is generally on the money with their news, so Chloë’s rumored involvement in the film is probably true. However, at the same time, Deadline.com reports that Kelly Reilly has been cast in the film as “a school nurse with a dark side.” If true, Reilly has likely been cast as Pamela, the role which IMDb has credited to Chloë all this time. Bloody Disgusting has nothing on Chloë’s role in the film while Deadline makes no mention of Chloë at all, so I think we’ll still continue treating this as a rumor until more information arrives.
Innocence centers on a moody teenager (Abigail Breslin) who discovers her elite private school is home to a vampire gang.

We Got This Covered reports Chloë Sevigny will be appearing opposite Olivia Wilde, Logan Marshall-Green, Whoopi Goldberg and Vince Jolivette in James Franco’s Black Dog, Red Dog. Franco will also be appearing in the film, which will be comprised of a series of short films directed by students in Franco’s NYU class. Filming is currently ongoing in New York.
James Franco is once again reeling in the big guns for a film that he’s working on with his NYU class. Thanks to recent casting calls, we now know that Olivia Wilde, Chloe Sevigny, Logan Marshall-Green, Whoopi Goldberg and Vince Jolivette will be joining Franco in his next film, Black Dog, Red Dog. Furthermore, The Mercury Report is reporting Tim Blake Nelson, who stared in Franco’s Child Of God, will also be part of the film.
Black Dog, Red Dog is based on poet Stephen Dobyns’ book that focuses on his life from the 1950′s to 1980′s. The film will be feature length though it will be made up of a series of short films directed by Franco’s students.
Black Dog, Red Dog is currently filming in New York until the end of the month and both Black Dog, Red Dog and Tar are expected to be released later this year.

Chloë Sevigny’s filmography on the Internet Movie Database has been updated with a new film – Innocence from director Hilary Brougher. According to the film’s IMDb-page, Chloë is set to appear in the film as Pamela opposite Maggie Gyllenhaal and Abigail Breslin; Filmofilia further reports that Julianne Moore has been cast. No status other than “in production” has been announced for the film.
The plot outline from the Internet Movie Database…
A young woman discovers her private school houses a vampire sect.
… and the description of the novel from Filmofilia:
Adolescence is a tough time for most people, and it is especially hard for 14-year-old Beckett, whose mother was killed in a drunk-driving accident in the suburbs. After the accident, her father, Miles, decides to move to an apartment on the Upper West Side of Manhattan, enrolling Beckett in an exclusive private school.
Strange things are happening at this school: several girls have formed suicide pacts, and three girls kill themselves shortly after Beckett begins school. It is through these events that Beckett meets Pam, the school nurse, who begins dating Miles and eventually becomes Beckett’s new stepmother.
At present, IMDb is the only source reporting of the addition of Chloë to the cast, however as soon as more reports surface online or an official source confirms her involvement we’ll add the film to her upcoming projects. We’ll keep you posted.
Thanks to Gianluca for the heads-up!

Another interesting recent article and interview with Chloë Sevigny, from EW.com. In this article, Chloë talks chiefly about her future projects post-Big Love (which may or may not include television and Broadway) and her thoughts on the YouTube “Chloe” impersonator. Full article under the cut.
Big Love star Chloe Sevigny on starring opposite Katie Holmes on Broadway, her dream TV job, and the comedian who spoofs her online
Big Love fans were sad to learn that this will be the final season of HBO’s family drama (spoiler alert: I’ve seen the premiere episode and it’s great) but star Chloe Sevigny, who plays the manipulative Nicki, is already thinking about her future gigs. The actress’ name has been mentioned as potentially starring opposite Katie Holmes in a Broadway revival of the play Extremities. Sevigny confirmed that she has indeed been considering a role in the revival . “I was reading it and I’m kind of seeing how the cast is gonna pan out,” she says. “I know the director is great but I feel like the cast has gotta be real strong. And it’s such a commitment.”
Meanwhile, she’s not ruling out a return to a TV series but is very specific about what she wants out of the project, namely, that it’s shot on the East Coast. Says the actress, “I’m not opposed to another series but I don’t think I’d do one in Los Angeles. I’d like to do a half-hour comedy on a cable network in New York where I play someone really glamorous and really goofy. That’s my dream job!” she says, laughing.
But the question everyone wants to know (or maybe just me and my EW colleagues Tanner Stransky and Henry Goldblatt) is what does Sevigny think about comedian Drew Droege and his hilarious series of viral video spoofs of the actress? “I met him the other day,” says Sevigny. “I feel like he doesn’t dress like me, he doesn’t talk like me! I feel like there’s zero connection. I don’t even understand how he can say it’s me. And then the things he references are sooo not me. He was very charming and very nervous. He thought I hated him. Of course not! I’m flattered. But it’s just not me at all!”
