Fretts on Film recently caught up with Chloë Sevigny to talk about some of her most recent films. Here’s some more information on Chloë’s involvement in the upcoming Linda Lovelace biopic Lovelace, M. Blash’s The Wait, which has been “in post-production” since August 2011, and James Franco’s NYU student film Black Dog, Red Dog, straight from the source. Kicking things off with…
… Lovelace, in which Chloë appears opposite her Big Love co-star Amanda Seyfried, who plays the title role:
“I’m probably in a minute and a half of the movie,” Sevigny told me. “It’s a cameo. It’s at the very beginning of the movie, and I play a feminist journalist interviewing her about the provocative nature of her work. I love Amanda, and they have a lot of great people doing cameos.”
The Wait:
“The Wait is still pending distribution,” Sevigny says. “It’s a great movie. I love it. I hope somebody picks it up. But I loved his last movie [Lying from 2006, in which Chloë also appears], too. They’re not for everyone.”
And finally, Black Dog, Red Dog:
“It’s not a film. It’s a student film. I do student films now,” she says, with a laugh. “I live in New York, and I want to give back to the community a little bit.”
Will it get a theatrical release, like Franco’s master’s thesis, the Hart Crane biopic The Broken Tower? “God, I have no idea. I doubt it. Maybe. I have no idea what they do with these films,” says Sevigny, who plays one of the main characters’ girlfriends. “If [Broken Tower] got released with barely a blip, then I don’t have much hope for Red Dog, Black Dog or Black Dog, Red Dog.”

Merry Christmas, guys (and gals)! Chloë Sevigny is featured in the January 2011 issue of US Playboy.
In the issue, Chloë answers Playboy‘s 20 Questions and is also featured in two photos. Although the pics are few, the interview is quite terrific (no, really!), with some great, honest quotations from Chloë regarding e.g. the new season of Big Love, growing up, The Brown Bunny and its infamous Chloë scene, the annual Emmy snubs and winning her first ever Golden Globe, and the 1994 article in The New Yorker that crowned her the “It girl”. The interview under the cut + a couple of scans in our gallery.

20Q: Chloë Sevigny
The ‘Big Love’ star and indie darling talks about what happens when you bad-mouth your hit show, the downside of sex scenes and how she’s getting tired of boyfriends who text instead of show up.
Q1: You’re known for your Oscar-nominated performance as the girlfriend of transgendered Hilary Swank in Boys Don’t Cry, and last year you won a Golden Globe for playing a sour, scheming polygamist fundamentalist Mormon wife on Big Love. You front a hip fashion line, you’re a much-photographed club scenester and you’ve made risky indie films that sometimes involve nudity. But no matter what your accomplishments, some people can’t get over that scene in the 2003 flick The Brown Bunny in which you give writer-director Vincent Gallo a blow job.
“What’s happened with that is all very complicated. There are a lot of emotions. I’ll probably have to go to therapy at some point. But I love Vincent. The film is tragic and beautiful, and I’m proud of it and my performance. I’m sad that people think one way of the movie, but what can you do? I’ve done many explicit sex scenes, but I’m not that interested in doing any more. I’m more self-aware now and wouldn’t be able to be as free, so why even do it?”

Interesting article and interview with Chloë Sevigny from The Guardian, in which she talks a lot about herself as well as her film work. It’s an honest article with some really nice, candid quotations from Chloë on both her career and her life in general. Full article under the cut.
Chloë Sevigny: The Interview
In the identikit world of the Hollywood leading lady, Chloë Sevigny defies convention. Her quirky looks, iconic sense of style and fearless approach to acting have made her the often controversial queen of the indie movie. Here she reveals why she regrets nothing.
Chloë Sevigny’s laugh is deep and honking, like a seal drunk on punch. Once I’ve heard it, I’m slightly preoccupied with the thought of hearing it again. First laugh: at the image of the “right man” eventually falling into her lap, “Like: ‘Whoops!’” Second laugh: the thought of asking sex advice from her mother, Janine. Third: remembering Jay McInerney following her round Manhattan like a smell, researching the seven-page New Yorker profile of Sevigny, then 19, where he wrote that she was “the coolest girl in the world”, the phrase that was, in turn, to follow her round for the rest of her life.
