‘Mr. Nice’ to also screen at SXSW 2010, tomorrow

As previously reported, Chloë Sevigny is indeed at hand this weekend at the ongoing SXSW 2010 in Austin, Texas, where she is not only premiering the Chris D’Arienzo-directed comedy Barry Munday, but also the Howard Marks-biopic Mr. Nice, which is currently slated for an October 2010 UK release. According to the SXSW program, Mr. Nice will premiere at the festival tomorrow, March 14. Chloë, as one of the film’s stars, is expected to attend the film’s interview panel with co-star Rhys Ifans and director Bernard Rose — check out the event details at SXSW.com.

First ‘Barry Munday’ trailer, world premiere at the SXSW 2010

Barry Munday news! According to the event schedule of the SXSW 2010, the Chris D’Arienzo-directed comedy will have its world premiere this month at the 2010 SXSW in Austin, Texas. According to the website, the film will premiere on March 13 at the festival; as of yet, we have no word on whether or not Chloë Sevigny, as one of the film’s stars, is expected to show up. Update: According to Cinematical, Chloë is expected to attend the SXSW premiere!

Synopsis from SXSW.com:

Barry Munday, a suburban wanna-be ladies man, wakes up in the hospital after being attacked in a movie theater, only to realize that he is missing one of his most prized possessions… his testicles. To make matters worse, Barry learns he’s facing a paternity lawsuit from a woman he can’t remember having sex with. Filled with an ensemble of unusual characters, Barry Munday is the surprisingly heart-warming tale of a guy who finds it took losing his manhood to be a better man.

Chloë talks ‘Big Love’ to NPR’s Terry Gross on “Fresh Air”

Yesterday, Chloë Sevigny was featured on the National Public Radio talk show “Fresh Air” with Terry Gross. On the show, Chloë discussed her recent work on the critically acclaimed HBO drama series, Big Love, her earlier work in e.g. Kids (on which she worked with former flame Harmony Korine), and her early life and style (e.g. why she shaved her head back in the day, and how she dealt with the frequent drug abuse in the rave scene she was in when she was young). It’s a very insightful and warm interview all around, and we highly suggest you have a listen!

Interview excerpts from NPR.org:

How her role on Big Love is different from her roles in movies:
“I’m kind of intimidated by the big screen — I often keep my performances much smaller and much more natural and subtle — and of course on Big Love, it’s so big, the stakes are always really high, and it’s always very dramatic, and there’s always so much going on that I can’t imagine what they saw in earlier performances that they would think, ‘Oh, Chloe can really run with this [Big Love role].’ “

On wearing prairie dresses:
“It was always a fantasy of mine growing up — my favorite program was always Little House on the Prairie — so I always wanted to wear those looks. When I was a child, I wouldn’t let my mom put me in anything but calico dresses and now … whaddaya know, every day I’m in a calico dress, basically, so it’s kind of funny.”

On getting started in acting:
“I had always wanted to be an actress. I went to summer theater camp from kindergarten on up until high school, and always had the leads in all the plays — even though they were at the YMCA — but it was something I always wanted to do. I had done some commercial work in junior high and stuff — my mother would bring me into the city, and we’d go on these crazy castings … Acting was something I always dreamed of doing … it was my passion when I was young.”

According to tarsha @ The Fashion Spot, Chloë Sevigny graces the cover of the April 2010 issue of UK Elle! As some of you will know, we reported in January that Chloë would be featured in an upcoming issue in the magazine’s new “Stylephile” section, featuring questions submitted by Elle readers to a monthly celebrity subject. Until now we didn’t know this would result in a cover feature, but we’re certainly not complaining!

As every Sunday, we’d once again like to remind you to check out tonight’s new episode of Big Love, the critically acclaimed HBO polygamist drama series starring Chloë Sevigny opposite Bill Paxton, Jeanne Tripplehorn and Ginnifer Goodwin. Episode 4.08 “Next Ticket Out” airs tonight at 9 PM on HBO. Only two more episodes to go this season!
