Just a quick heads-up that according to BlackBookMag.com‘s recent interview with Chloë Sevigny, Chloë will be debuting her fourth collection for Opening Ceremony with a runway show next week.

Next week, you’ll unveil your first runway show for Opening Ceremony. You must be so excited.
I’m actually really nervous about it.

Are you going to have Paul DJ it?
I hadn’t even thought about it, to be honest. I need someone who does a lot of fashion shows. The problem is that DJs want to be collaborative and I just want to tell them what to play. I’m working with a young artist who makes sculptures and installations, and he’s creating some special pieces specifically for me. The PR company is worried that it’s going to stir up controversy, but I’m like, Do you know who you’re talking to?

If this is the first you’ve heard of the upcoming runway show, please check out our original post about it here. More information as we get it.

Ahoy, America! According to Ology.com, Bernard Rose’s crime dramedy and Howard Marks-biopic Mr. Nice, which premiered in the UK last October, will be premiering in the U.S. this Friday, June 3rd. Chloë Sevigny appears in the film as Judy Marks opposite Rhys Ifans and David Thewlis. Be sure to check out if it’s playing in your area!

Chloë has also recently given a couple of new interviews promoting the film. Select quotations regarding the film from BlackBookMag.com

Have you read Judy’s blog?
No, I’m not really into the internet.

She says lovely things about you on it.
We didn’t meet until after I finished shooting the film, but we ended up bonding in Spain. I think Bernard [Rose, the film’s director] didn’t want me to become friendly with her because he didn’t want it to color my performance. He didn’t want me to become more sympathetic to her and to her children, even though I’d read all about it from the book.

[...] Were you at all apprehensive about having to do a British accent?
I was really scared of the accent, and I was so not confident about it. The filmmakers weren’t very specific. If they’d specified a certain type of English accent, then it would have been easier. Also, they didn’t really have a dialect coach for me to work with—they had a PA. They weren’t giving me the right training about how to move your mouth and where the right sounds are in your mouth, because it’s very technical. I did a film where I spoke mostly in French—Olivier Assayas’ Demonlover—and I learned all of that phonetically with a woman at a piano helping me find the tones. And I did a fucking smashing job.

[...] When you watch yourself in Mr. Nice, are you pleased with the performance? Are you your own harshest critic?
I am, yes, but Bernard made me look better than most people do. He was always bragging about that: “I make you look better than anyone else, I know your angles.”

In what is probably our favorite magazine feature of the year so far, Chloë Sevigny is currently featured in the Spring/Summer issue (i.e. issue 4) of Twin Magazine (UK). The gorgeous new photoshoot was photographed by Kenneth Cappello in Chloë’s New York apartment, (from the looks of it) sometime in the winter. Check out a preview of the editorial in the gallery, and thanks to The Stylist Site for the heads-up!

According to The Art Newspaper, Chloë Sevigny will be appearing in Doug Aitken’s Black Mirror exhibition/theater piece this upcoming June in Greece. The piece is a combination of video footage and live performance, both of which Chloë will be partaking in. Check out a newly uploaded promotional video still of Chloë in Black Mirror in the gallery. The full report as follows, courtesy of The Art Newspaper.

HYDRA, GREECE. Doug Aitken will be taking over the Deste Foundation’s Project Space in an old slaughterhouse on the island of Hydra this June with a new kaleidoscopic, multi-channel video and performance installation featuring actress Chloë Sevigny. Black Mirror, as the project is titled, is “beyond an exhibition… it’s a piece that is not defined by medium. For me it was more about starting with a concept and making a more diverse body of work,” Aitken told The Art Newspaper.

The project examines the fragmentation of communication in today’s world, where most conversations are spoken through truncated text messages and online postings and “language is being reduced to single words and fragments, pieces of information, nothing really complete,” said Aitken. The artist and his crew have just returned from several weeks of filming in locations including Greece, Mexico and Arizona, focusing on the interstitial places that are passed through when travelling: airport terminals, hotel rooms, car parks and late-night shops. “I’m not interested in the exotic or cultural tourism,” Aitken explained.

Aitken is launching the project in Greece with two evenings of hour-long live performances in the port of Piraeus in Athens on 16-17 June. A specially constructed barge will serve as a floating theatre where guests will watch Sevigny and other performers acting out the narrative of the video piece, which will be projected on three sides of the platform. The barge will then be moored outside of the Hydra project space for two more performances on 19-20 June. Meanwhile the slaughterhouse gallery will become “a black mirrored kaleidoscope” Aitken said, with five channels of film projected and infinitely reflected on a series of screens. “It is this humble, concrete, remote space that you could walk by and not notice, but you walk in and it contains this vortex.” Aitken added that he hopes the theatre piece will travel to another location after the exhibition in Greece.

Presentation details available at www.greekfestival.gr.
