Onto today’s (small) updates. To begin with, yesterday, February 13, Chloë Sevigny was spotted at the Opening Ceremony New York Store Opening, from which we’ve been able to find two medium-res photos so far. As always, we’ll add more if and when we find them. Still loving the new crop!

ViewOnFashion.com has a preview of the new Chloë Sevigny for Opening Ceremony Fall 2009 lookbook, featuring a lot of — redheads. From ViewOnFashion.com:

Chloe Sevigny wanted her new collection for Opening Ceremony to really turn heads, and she wanted the lookbook to be unique too. So she decided to make the winter catalogue into a bibliographic project – a book dedicated to redheads. The exclusive book is a limited edition that captures Chloe’s unique creativity.

Reds includes various photos by David Armstrong and artwork by artists like Joe Denardo and Marlene McCarty. The book is based on a simple idea: red hair. Chloe thought that her collection of grey tweeds would look perfect on redheads.

How did they find so many red-haired models? They sought out friends and old acquaintances, and for their casting sessions they took to the streets near Thompkins Square Park. The book is on sale in Opening Ceremony…

Apologies for the delay in updates. It’s literally dead quiet in the world of Chloë Sevigny right now, so there’s been essentially nothing to update with. Here’s a small report from Examiner.com on Chloë’s upcoming Fall 2009 menswear/unisex collection for Opening Ceremony:

Most importantly, Chloë Sevigny is helping to bridge the gap between the mainstream and avant garde with her collection for Opening Ceremony. Chloë herself has built a reputation as a muse for many designers because of her sophisticated and unusual style. Now instead of buying quirky vintage clothes for her own wardrobe, she is sharing it with the rest of us. In the collection we see opaque tights worn as pants, with oversize menswear shirts and sweaters. Most unusual of the collection is the printed peg leg pants with a high waist. Of all the eccentric pieces in the Fall ’09 collections, those pants are the ones I’m most curious to see whether or not they will appear on the streets of New York.

Chloë Sevigny recently talked shoes and label collaboration to Women’s Wear Daily:

Trendsetter Chloë Sevigny, star of HBO’s Big Love, knows shoes — she fêted her second collab with boutique Opening Ceremony earlier this year and will debut a capsule collection with Bass this fall. Here, she dished to Insider about what she designed and what she loves.

Q: What challenges did you face with the new Opening Ceremony collection?
A: I wanted to do a chunky heel, but we couldn’t get the shapes right, so we ended up doing wedges. The wedges this season are much thinner and sexier. We made this amazing pair with strappy buckles that go all the way up. They are already on back order, so I’m very enthusiastic about that shoe.

Q: You have a reputation as a huge shoe collector. What’s your organizational method?
A: Oh my God, I have hundreds of pairs. I keep them in a stairwell in clear plastic boxes, labeled. But the pairs in heavy rotation are in my everyday closet. Right now, my favorites are these cowboy boots by NaNa that I found at a flea market in Austin, Texas. I also have a pair of combat boots by NaNa — I am very into that brand right now.

Q: What would be your dream collab?
A: Hermès, maybe? [Laughs.] That might be reaching a little high. Actually, NaNa would be a great collaboration!

Chloë doesn’t disappoint! As we reported earlier, Chloë Sevigny did indeed host Kiehl’s New York Flagship Store Celebration with the Doe Fund in New York, NY yesterday, April 9 2009, and we now have first photos of Chloë at the event, looking effortlessly stylish in a black mini and dark blue navy jacket, the former of which is à la Opening Ceremony (Allure.com). The gallery has been updated with our first 29 medium- and hi-res photos from the event, some thanks to the good people at The Fashion Spot. As always, we’ll be keeping an eye out for more.

Furthermore, MyFOXNY has a video clip from the event, with a very cute interview segment in which Chloë and the reporter remark upon the great music being played (Chloë’s brother, Paul Sevigny was the DJ of the evening). The clip will soon be added to our media archive for download, but in the mean time check it out at MyFOXNY.com! Report from Allure.com:

Last night we went to Kiehl’s’ celebration of their refurbished East Village flagship store, which they wisely renovated to more closely resemble its original apothecary feel. Chloë Sevigny, a longtime Kiehl’s devotee and downtown poster girl, was on hand to host, wearing a black Opening Ceremony mini-dress (natch) and totally inspiring for spring electric pink lipstick. (Also, her cute brother Paul DJ’d the event.) Sevigny dished to us that the brand’s Rosewater Facial Toner was the first Kiehl’s product she ever used—”I loved the pretty rose petals floating in the bottle,”—and that her current obsessions are the Creme de Corps body lotion, Lavender Foaming Relaxing Bath with Sea Salts and Aloe Vera, and Dermatologist Solutions Powerful-Strength Line-Reducing Concentrate, which she swears really works (and we believe her—her skin is ridiculously glowing).

The other reason for the party: In addition to launching a new collection of grooming tools, totes, and t-shirts that will be available exclusively at that store, the company donated $10,000 to the The Doe Fund’s Ready, Willing and Able program, which helps formerly homeless or incarcerated people learn vocational skills and become active members of their communities.

Some time back we reported of Chloë Sevigny being interviewed for the current, April 2009 issue of US magazine, Interview, regarding her latest collection for Opening Ceremony. The interview is now available online at InterviewMagazine.com — check it out! From InterviewMagazine.com:

BOLLEN: If you haven’t noticed, I really like the sweater leggings.
SEVIGNY: The Fair Isle–like leggings? Yeah, I think my main inspiration was gay lumberjack. That was the jumping off point. Because I know a lot of boys who dress kind of lumberjacky but they also look a little gay at the same time. So I wanted something kind of urban and outdoorsy.

BOLLEN: I wonder if older gay bears are mad that young bisexual twentysomethings stole their pickup look?
SEVIGNY: I think it’s a sexy look. So I would say overall it’s more of a ’90s influence. Preppy, but worn in a punk manner. There were these hip-hop kids in the ’90s called the Polo Kids who wore Polo Ralph Lauren, but in a really street way.

BOLLEN: In general, what guys do you get fashion inspiration from?
SEVIGNY: Nick Cave. But he’s tall and slim so everything looks good on him. Definitely Dave Gahan. But then there are people in my life like Joe DeNardo from the band Growing, Ben Cho, who always looks great, and my friend M. Blash . . . Maybe also Q-Tip circa 1992.

Just a quick heads-up that Chloë Sevigny is interviewed in the April 2009 issue of US magazine, Interview, featuring actor Zac Efron on the cover. In the article, Chloë discusses her Fall 2009 menswear collection for Opening Ceremony as well as her involvement in the upcoming biopic, Mr. Nice. While the issue features no photos of Ms. Sevigny herself, it does feature two photos of a male model wearing her designs. Hopefully we’ll have scans for you soon, and thanks to Andrew for the heads-up!

We finally have some new information on Chloë Sevigny’s new menswear line for Opening Ceremony, Autumn/Winter 2009. As some of you will know, Chloë recently debuted the collection at London Fashion Week in the UK.

For starters, the gallery has been updated with eight medium-res photos of a Chloë promoshoot for the collection. Chloë furthermore recently sat down with DazedDigital.com to discuss the new collection. If you’re interested in a collection preview, the website also has an additional look at it, which is definitely worth a look. From DazedDigital.com:

DD: Your first collection was inspired by your Junior High years, is your menswear from the same period?
CS: I guess so. I was hoping that a lot of pieces were more timeless. A shirt jacket in navy, it could be from any period. We wanted to make lots of oversize jackets for girls. My favourite piece is probably the full pants. But they’re all pretty classic pieces.

DD: You’ve appeared on the cover of L’uomo Vogue in menswear. What’s your take on androgyny?
CS: When I was 19, 20, I had very short hair and I was very into the androgynous look. But I was much thinner then and I’ve filled out and become more of a woman now. I don’t think I could pull it off so much now. But I think the androgynous look is so beautiful. It’s one of my favourite looks on women.

DD: Is designing a nice release after working on a dramatic show like Big Love?
CS: Oh yeah this was fun. I don’t wanna say it’s a vanity project but it kind of is y’know! It’s just something for me to do that’s creative and fun. I get to make pieces I always wanted to wear.
