American actress and fashion icon Chloë Sevigny is one of Hollywood's boldest and most gifted actors. New York Magazine has done a feature on Chloë Sevigny’s East Village apartment in New York City.

Update: Chloë is also on the cover of the magazine’s May 7th issue. Check out the sultry cover in our gallery.

Excerpt from the article via NYMag.com:

Sitting on Chloë Sevigny’s glass-topped kitchen table is a script for Black Dog, Red Dog, a feature film directed by James Franco and eleven of his NYU students. She shot it for free. “I’m out of work right now,” she says, laughing. “I thought it would be good to help some young filmmakers and busy myself so I don’t go crazy and obsess over buying a cat.”

[...] On breaks from Big Love, Sevigny would buy a lamp here and a mirror there from David Cafiero, who runs the tiny by-appointment antiques store Cafiero Select in Cooper Square, and who helped decorate her brother Paul’s club, the Beatrice Inn. “We’re both from New England,” says Sevigny. “He’s really inspired by the sea, and I grew up on the water. I was like, ‘Ahhh. I wish I could just live in his store!’”

[...] As Sevigny shows me around, she realizes that she had quite a bit of decorating help from an ex-boyfriend, musician Matt McAuley (A.R.E. Weapons, TV Baby), whom she dated for eight years and whose gifts are everywhere. The copper teakettle. A pitcher in a Tiffany toile pattern. A framed postcard of Jesus. “When he moved out, he took all the pictures of us out of the frames and put that one in,” she says. “I left it there. It’s kind of weird, right? But it’s beautiful.”

The article also confirms Chloë’s appearance in James Franco’s Black Dog, Red Dog. Read it in full on NYMag.com; a couple of outtakes from the accompanying photoshoot in our gallery.

More magazine features! According to Perri Lewis, commissioning editor at Psychologies magazine, Chloë Sevigny will be on the cover of (presumably) the June issue of the UK health and entertainment magazine. Keep your eyes peeled for it on newsstands!

Update Apr 29: Chloë will indeed be appearing in the June issue of Psychologies. Check out a preview of the cover to your right — you’ll notice the cover picture is the same as appeared in California Style in 2009.

Chloë is also currently featured on the cover of the April 28th Independent Magazine, a weekly supplement of the Independent newspaper. Check out a small preview of the cover to your right, two outtakes from the photoshoot in our gallery and the full interview at www.independent.co.uk.

Select excerpts from the interview about Hit & Miss, her Golden Globe win, The Brown Bunny and the role she was once supposedly offered in Legally Blonde:

“Sex scenes are difficult, simulated or not,” is how Sevigny puts it. “It sucks either way.” “As it were,” I say. “As it were,” she echoes flatly, bored by the double entendre. There were reports of a backlash after Brown Bunny, something Sevigny denies. “There were all these rumours, like getting fired from my agency, which is not true,” she says. “And they said things about me not being marketable, but was I marketable beforehand? No. I mean I’ve always been this indie, outside-the-box girl. Afterwards I got cast in a Woody Allen film, and Zodiac and then a big show on HBO. So people can say what they like.”

[...] “That was surprising,” she says. “I got really giddy and emotional when I got up on stage. I couldn’t believe I was getting this pat on the back, even though it was from this small collection of foreign journalists.”

[...] Her only immediate plans are for a long holiday in Jamaica. Sky are hoping for a second series of Hit+Miss should it prove a hit rather than a miss. Would she be tempted back? “I think I’d like to see how it comes out, and what they would have in mind,” she says.

[...] What about the story that she turned down half a million for Legally Blonde, and the role eventually taken by Selma Blair? “Why does everyone keep saying this?” asks Sevigny. “I was never offered Legally Blonde — that’s an internet lie… one of many hundreds. It just enrages me. Drop the Legally Blonde thing.”

Interestingly, Chloë explicitly denies in the interview having ever been offered a role in the 2001 blockbuster Legally Blonde, although she spoke of the reasons she turned down the part in Tokion magazine in 2009. But what is Chloë if not a contradictory person? :)

Check out these two hi-res digital scans of Chloë Sevigny and Hit & Miss featured in the Summer 2012 issue of Attitude magazine. The article features some terrific quotations from Chloë about filming Hit & Miss (and Manchester), Boys Don’t Cry and the Drew Droege “Chloe Sevigny” spoof video series among others and comes with two brand new photos from Chloë’s Hit & Miss promoshoot as Mia.

Select excerpts from the article:

In February, Chloë told US magazine Interview that Manchester ‘one of the grimmest places I’d ever been in my entire life’, a quote that was picked up by The Sun and which unfavourably painted her as a prissy Yank. So did she really hate it? ‘Well, I did feel very stuck there,’ she admits, ‘but it’s not like I have anything against Manchester! It was just so small, and it’s hard for another city to compare to New York.’ And while she cheerfully admits that Manchester was ‘always raining’, she took a leaf out of Stuart and Vince from Queer as Folk‘s book in her penchant for trips to Canal Street ‘to watch and see trans women walk by’.

[...] Chloë’s most acclaimed role is still in Boys Don’t Cry, the searing 1999 biopic of F-to-M trans man Brandon Teena (the role won Hilary Swank an Oscar). Chloë played Brandon’s loving, headstrong girlfriend who stands by her man through his tragic persecution in the trailer parks of America’s conservative Midwest. ‘That story is still precious to me,’ she says of the role that also earned her an Oscar nomination, but adds, ‘At the end of the day I think about the real Brandon Teena who was murdered by his friend, so it’s very bittersweet.’ People keep trying to compare Hit and Miss to Boys Don’t Cry when they talk to her, but she says, ‘I feel that kind of trivialises it — Hilary was a girl playing a boy.’

[...] ‘I met [Drew Droege] at a party once and he was frightened to death! But I was very kind to him.’ It’s clear that Chloë is a little uneasy about being spoofed. Who wouldn’t be? But then she quips with trademark self-deprecation, ‘I’m happy to provide entertainment!’

Big news! Entertainment Weekly exclusively reports Chloë Sevigny is in final talks to join the upcoming second season of the hit FX series American Horror Story. The full story from EW.com:

Season 2 of the FX hit American Horror Story is shaping up to be even wilder than season 1. Case in point: EW has learned exclusively that Big Love‘s Chloe Sevigny is in final talks to join the second season, set to begin production this summer. Sevigny will play a character named Shelly the Nymphomaniac, who is one of the mortal enemies of Jessica Lange’s character. Basically, prepare yourself for Lange vs. Sevigny! The writers and producers of AHS were such fans of Sevigny that they wrote the part with her in mind.

The actress will join Lange, Zachary Quinto, Adam Levine, Sarah Paulson, Evan Peters, and Lily Rabe in the new season, which Murphy has revealed will be set in an East Coast institution for the criminally insane run by Lange’s character.

This is fantastic news. AHS was a big hit in its debut season, and we can’t wait to see Chloë back on weekly television. Congrats on the role, Chloë!

Finally, another source next to the Internet Movie Database has mentioned Chloë Sevigny’s rumored involvement in Hilary Brougher’s Innocence. Bloody Disgusting has exclusively learned new details about the casting for the film, and according to their sources Chloë will be appearing in the film. From Bloody Disgusting:

There’s a lot of casting ins and outs regarding Bankside Films and Killer Films’ Innocence, their vampire tale announced last February. Back in 2011, both Abigail Breslin and Julianne Moore were cast. As of today, we have a wide array of different information we’re digging into.

First, it looks like Moore is out, but Breslin, the Zombieland star recently cast in The Hive, is still locked in the lead role. Bloody Disgusting is also exclusively told that Kelly Reilly (Sherlock Holmes) and Chloe Sevigny (Zodiac, American Psycho) have joined the cast, with Sophie Curtis (The English Teacher) also in talks.

BD is generally on the money with their news, so Chloë’s rumored involvement in the film is probably true. However, at the same time, Deadline.com reports that Kelly Reilly has been cast in the film as “a school nurse with a dark side.” If true, Reilly has likely been cast as Pamela, the role which IMDb has credited to Chloë all this time. Bloody Disgusting has nothing on Chloë’s role in the film while Deadline makes no mention of Chloë at all, so I think we’ll still continue treating this as a rumor until more information arrives.

Innocence centers on a moody teenager (Abigail Breslin) who discovers her elite private school is home to a vampire gang.

“Because I’m fortunate to have a wonderful family, a comfortable home, some people see me as… privileged. They think that I’m self-centered, that I take things for granted, but that couldn’t be any further from the truth. What you see on that tape is me fighting for my life, and the only thing going through my mind was will I ever see my family again. I did whatever I had to do to survive!”
- Christine Hartwell

Hope everyone was able to tune in to Chloë Sevigny guest starring on Law & Order: Special Victims Unit on NBC last Wednesday — if you weren’t, you can catch the episode online on NBC.com. Meanwhile, here’s our summary of the episode, 13.18 “Valentine’s Day”, beginning with a quick recap:

Video chatting from Hong Kong, Christine Hartwell’s (Chloë Sevigny) husband is forced to watch as Christine is brutally raped and kidnapped from their New York home. The police are able to capture her when she is sent by her assailants to pick up the ransom money, but when she is questioned about what happened, her unusual behavior and the holes in her story quickly get the detectives of the SVU suspicious. As the evidence starts to mount up against her it soon becomes clear there’s much more to both Christine and her story than she is telling, and she’s eventually charged with coercion, obstruction and filing a false report. But even as the evidence against Christine begins to look overwhelming the case is anything but open-and-shut when not only does Christine’s blindly devoted husband get her a top defense attorney, Christine secretly manages to befriend one of the jurors.

SVU isn’t one of my favorite shows personally, but I still thoroughly enjoyed seeing Chloë on it. I’ve been waiting for Chloë to land more mainstream roles and productions like this (not to mention just seeing her onscreen again), and she did not disappoint as the seductive and duplicitous Christine.

247 site-exclusive HD screen captures of Chloë’s appearance on the show have been uploaded to the gallery. Enjoy! :)

We Got This Covered reports Chloë Sevigny will be appearing opposite Olivia Wilde, Logan Marshall-Green, Whoopi Goldberg and Vince Jolivette in James Franco’s Black Dog, Red Dog. Franco will also be appearing in the film, which will be comprised of a series of short films directed by students in Franco’s NYU class. Filming is currently ongoing in New York.

James Franco is once again reeling in the big guns for a film that he’s working on with his NYU class. Thanks to recent casting calls, we now know that Olivia Wilde, Chloe Sevigny, Logan Marshall-Green, Whoopi Goldberg and Vince Jolivette will be joining Franco in his next film, Black Dog, Red Dog.  Furthermore, The Mercury Report is reporting Tim Blake Nelson, who stared in Franco’s Child Of God, will also be part of the film.

Black Dog, Red Dog is based on poet Stephen Dobyns’ book that focuses on his life from the 1950′s to 1980′s. The film will be feature length though it will be made up of a series of short films directed by Franco’s students.

Black Dog, Red Dog is currently filming in New York until the end of the month and both Black Dog, Red Dog and Tar are expected to be released later this year.
