You let him in? How could you be so reckless!
- Nicolette “Nicki” Grant

Hopefully, everyone was able to tune in to last Sunday’s episode of HBO’s polygamist drama series, Big Love, in which Chloë Sevigny stars as Bill Henrickson’s second wife Nicolette “Nicki” Grant opposite Bill Paxton, Jeanne Tripplehorn and Ginnifer Goodwin. Here’s our recap of episode 3.08 “Rough Edges”, please highlight to read:

In the eve of Kathy Marquart’s funeral, the Henrickson household begins to fall apart when Nicki’s lies and secrets begin to unfold to the rest, while Lois is proving an unexpected pillar of stability to Wanda in her and Joey’s shared grief. As Nicki’s former boss District Attorney Ray Henry suddenly shows up at Margene’s doorstep, thinking it is where Nicki lives, the truth about Nicki’s identity and her dealings with the DA are revealed to everyone, and soon Nicki finds that everyone has turned their backs on her: a devastated Bill and Barb, Margie, an embarrassed Ray Henry, Joey, furious over Nicki indirectly having a hand in Kathy’s death, Roman, unforgiving of Nicki shoving him down the courthouse stars — even Barb’s daughter, Sarah. When the Henricksons seem indifferent to her fate, Nicki seeks refuge with the only person still talking to her, her renegade brother Alby. Convinced of Roman’s direct involvement in Kathy’s death, Joey Henrickson is outraged when an insolent Roman shows up at the memorial service, and rushes over to Adaleen Grant to push her to admit the truth, which she resists, however. Bill continues to force Ted’s hand about the document legitimizing polygamy in the LDS church, and eventually has it stolen, only to find it stolen from him when the Greens suddenly appear at Bill’s office to stake their claim on it. The confrontation is only seconds away from ending brutally for Bill, when Don Embry turns on the fire alarm, scaring off the Greens. As it turns out, it’s Don who’s taken the document, legitimizing his lifestyle, in a desperate effort to save his family from falling apart.

Well, I was beginning to wonder when everything would begin to unravel! What a good point Alby makes in saying how Roman is finally beginning to show his true color. Personally, Chloë pulls off probably the season’s best performance as Nicki so far — the different reactions of Nicki are truly well portrayed! Check out our 452 medium-res screen captures of her appearance on the show at our gallery, or alternatively our 7 site-exclusive video clips at our media archive. Don’t forget to tune in again next Sunday for episode 3.09 “Outer Darkness”! As always, we’ll do our best to cover it.

I really hope Nicki and Ray can work things out. They have an amazing story, and chemistry. I felt so bad for both of them when the truth came out. I have to say the acting was outstanding. I think the scene with Nicki, Ray and the family in the middle of the street was the best scene in the series

Me too! In the scene where Nicki calls Ray to apologize, it looked like he was genuinely hurting, implying that he still had feelings for her, despite all that she’d done, which does inspire hope. And I for one would really like to see Nicki genuinely happy, for a change; I’ve never seen her crushing for someone, including Bill, the way she was crushing for Ray.

I have to join in on the Ray and Nicki obsession. I thought there was no way I could like this show more and here comes this season. Nicki is the breakout character. Her relationship with Ray must and I mean MUST go on. I cannot miss an episode now. My favorite part of the show was when Nicki went after Ray in front of the family outside. My goodness that girl has some spunk. Finally someone who is going for what they want. Nicki follow your heart with Ray.

Yes! I really hope Ray becomes a serious contender to Bill for Nicki’s affections. The reveal in front of the entire family was well thought of and very funny, and I really appreciate how Nicki is increasingly coming out of her shell. She’s not just causing a bit of trouble anymore; she’s really beginning to realize her own worth and stand up for it, though not necessarily consciously so. And the way Chloë portrays Nicki’s shyness among strangers and new acquaintances, not the least Ray, is simply genius.

With the unsealing of Nicolette and Bill does this mean a reunion of Nicky and Ray. Gee please let it be. I want to see Nicky and Ray come together this time. Since Nicky has another child maybe Ray can help her in that situation and that leads to more closeness between them.
