American actress and fashion icon Chloë Sevigny is one of Hollywood's boldest and most gifted actors. Known for her many indie film roles, Sevigny has garnered much critical acclaim since her 1995 debut, most recently a Golden Globe for her performance on HBO's Big Love. Sevigny is also widely revered for her sense of style, and recently launched her fourth collection for the hip NY label Opening Ceremony.

The 2008 Golden Globes have been announced, and unfortunately it would seem Big Love was left without an award. The series was nominated for Best Drama Series and Best Performance by an Actor in a Drama Series; the awards, however, went to Mad Men and the series’ lead John Hamm.

The Golden Globes were announced yesterday in a press conference, interestingly enough – there was no red carpet event or gala due to the WGA writers’ strike generating an evidently insurmountable lack of participants. Visit the Golden Globes official site for all of the 2008 nominees and winners.

Finally some Chloë newness. Fangoria.com recently got an exclusive peek at the US trailer for Douglas Buck’s psychological horror thriller Sisters, in which Chloë portrays investigative reporter Grace Collier who investigates the fate of the mysterious Tristiana twins. The film is getting a straight-to-DVD release in the United States in March 2008, as earlier reported, and co-stars Lou Doillon and Stephen Rea.

Watch the US trailer at Fangoria.com; those interested in the film and/or Chloë’s performance in it might also want to check out the Japanese trailer at the film’s official Japanese site – a trailer which is in my opinion far more interesting than the US one. Below are some MQ screen captures of Chloë as Grace in both trailers. Enjoy!

Film.com reports the Zodiac Director’s Cut has today been released on Region 1/North American DVD and and HD-DVD. No word on a Region 2/European release, but those interested in the R1 release can purchase it fot $23 at Amazon.com. From Film.com:

Out now in standard def and HD DVD, this Director’s Cut edition — packaged unnervingly in a case that recreates one of the Zodiac’s letters to the San Francisco Chronicle — adds a few minutes to the original cut, with no fundamental changes impacting the new running time of 162 minutes. (Andrew Fitzpatrick details the Director’s Cut additions at his blog The Blood Spattered Scribe.) The image (anamorphic 2.35:1) and DD 5.1 audio are quite good, identical to last July’s bare bones DVD.

Where this new edition really shouts out is through its second disc and quality extras. On tap are two commentary tracks: a solitary track by Fincher and a composite track with Gyllenhaal, Downey Jr., Brad Fischer, James Vanderbilt and novelist James Ellroy. The extras on Disc 2 are separated into two categories: The Film and The Facts. The first group holds “Zodiac Deciphered,” an hour-long, eight-part examination of the production, beginning to end, with behind-the-scenes footage of rehearsals and shooting. “The Visual Effects of Zodiac” gets into the surprisingly complex CGI work that went into such a grounded, beneficially “old school” film. “Previsualization” presents three before-and-after clips showing how Fincher used computer animatics to plan his production. Under The Facts we get “This is the Zodiac Speaking,” a feature-length comprehensive documentary about the real-life events that inspired the movie, with interviews with actual investigators and surviving victims. Then a 42-minute featurette, “Prime Suspect: His Name Was Arthur Leigh Allen,” collects interviews with people who have reason to believe that they know who the Zodiac was.

DVDTown.com reports that Image Entertainment will be releasing Sisters on DVD on March 11 2008. Extras will include a director’s audio commentary, deleted scenes and a making of-featurette. The film co-stars Stephen Rea and Lou Doillon. From DVDTown:

Reporter Grace Collier (Chloë Sevigny, TV’s Big Love, American Psycho) witnesses a woman committing a bizarre murder in this disturbing shocker based on Brian De Palma’s 1973 classic. When police fail to find a corpse or any trace of the crime, Collier undertakes her own investigation that leads her to a mental asylum and the discovery of the mysterious woman’s once-conjoined twin. Stephen Rea also stars as the twins’ controlling and controversial doctor in a chilling look at the deep and sometimes psychotic bond between Sisters.
